Google made main changes in their algorithm from 2011 onwards. The main aim of this change was to improve the quality of the contents in google so that when people search for the contents, they will get a good quality content which will make them more trustworthy than before. For this they formed a team of members and appointed Mathew Cutts as their team head. 

PANDA UPDATE 

                                      

On February 2011, Google introduced their new update which is known as Panda update. The main aim of Panda update was to remove the websites which have low quality contents so that they can maintain their quality. This was an updation against content spamming, which means duplication of contents from other websites. It will also remove the contents with spelling mistakes, grammatical errors. Panda update will also remove the website which uses content spinning activity, which means to alter the sentences and use it in another page.

PENGUIN UPDATE

                                           

Google launched the Penguin update in April 2012.  Penguin update was against link spamming. When content specific search engine becomes link specific, the webmasters tried to achieve so many links to get higher ranking. Link spamming includes link exchange, link farming, comment spamming, wiki spamming, etc...

PIGEON UPDATE

                                        

This is based on local ranking. The website that we promote is focusing on local audience, then there is some practices need to be done, which helps in ranking among local website. The pigeon update shows result according to needs of the local audience.

HUMMING BIRD UPDATE

                                         

Humming bird update made a lot of changes in Google. This update was launched on September 2013. Humming bird update uses small amount of Artificial Intelligence to improve the quality of google. When a user searched in interactive way (like what, who, etc.…), google also found the contents in interactive way. In humming bird update google also finds deep answers to the question that the user is asking about.

RANK-BRAIN UPDATE

                                         

This is a component of Google's core algorithm which uses machine learning to determine the most relevant results to search engine queries. The machine learning aspect of rank-brain is what sets it apart from other updates. 

PARKED DOMAIN UPDATE

                                     

This is the registration of an Internet domain name without that domain being associated with any services such as e-mail or a website. Till we register a domain we can park the websites.

EDM (Exact Match Domain) UPDATE

                                     

This is a filter Google launched in September 2012 to prevent poor quality sites from ranking well simply because they had words that match search terms in their domain names. When a fresh EMD Update happens, sites that have improved their content may regain good rankings.

PIRATE UPDATE
                                    

This update deletes the duplicated files, images, etc from search result which are published without the permission of the website. DMCA(Digital millennium copy right act) is the act who punishes the people who are being complained by the websites whose content is duplication , would be suspended by DMCA.
