Google was officially launched in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin to market Google Search. which has become the most used web-based search engine. Larry Page and Sergey Brin, students at Stanford University in California, developed a search algorithm at first known as "BackRub" in 1996, with the help of Scott Hassan and Alan Steremberg. The search engine soon proved successful and the expanding company moved several times, finally settling at Mountain View in 2003. This marked a phase of rapid growth, with the company making its initial public offering in 2004 and quickly becoming one of the world's largest media companies.

SEO was formed in 1991. Around this time, the world's first website was launched, and one quickly turned into many as websites crowded the internet. So, there was a huge need for structure and accessibility, and the world's first search engines were created


Working Of Search Engine

There are three primary functions:


1.Crawling:

Web crawlers scan the website to get information about that particular website. It can be a program or spiders or robots or google bots.


2.Catching:

Catching means basically after crawling they take snapshots to save the data or information. Which basically means taking the snapshot of that web page.


3.Indexing:

Indexing means after crawling(scanning) and catching (snapshot) it should be stored in a relevant place. It stores the database according to the category.

Content Specific

At first, Google was Content specific.  If they give keyword several times, focusing keyboard rank increases. Therefore, inquires for top people increases. Then webmasters tried to use more keywords in their sites to be ranked. But they lack quality information etc. Google don’t want such an unspecific result, as the people would dislike Google search engine.


Keyword Stuffing:

This process involves focusing the keyboard on a web page for ranking. This is a black-hat SEO technique.

BLACK-HAT SEO TECHNIQUE : Practices which are not allowed in Google search.


WHITE HAT SEO TECHNIQUE: It is the opposite of black-hat SEO technique. Practices allowed in Google search.

Link Specific

So google changed their algorithm and became Link Specific. That is if we get hyperlink from another website Google considers that hyperlink as bot of recommendation. On the basis of links received from other websites the webpages got Ranked. Then the webmasters tried to include their links on other websites to be high ranked. Later this made many websites to sell the links.So Google adopted a new technique in order to overcome it.

Quality Link Specific

That is google introduced a page rank to rate the websites with respect to their quality. The link from a website having page rank will only be considered to be ranked. Google introduced passing the juice.

PASSING THE JUICE / LINK JUICE

Passing of juice means when the page provides a link to another website the equity of the page gets decreased. The values are passed through hyperlinks. Search engines see links as vote by another website that proves the page is valuable or worth promoting. "Rel=no follow" means equity is not passed through links.

CHANGES IN THE YEAR 2009-2010

From 2009 many changes were made. Google suggest, personalized search results were introduced, which made it more user friendly. Google search engine became more interactive. Many features were made, so Google has become a personal assistant for users. According to the interaction of users the ranking was increased. They started collecting data and established data centers.  According to the number of people visited the sites, the number of comments and subscribers  and how much time a user spends on a website ranks is increased tremendously.

In 2010, Google brought social media signal update. Here the blogs maintained in a website, is shared in social Medias , when they will have an increase in their ranking. The webmasters started to depend on social media. But when the articles being shared increased, the number of interaction a post receive also increased. Also, ranking can be increased when an more influential  personality interact or like the certain blog . the influential personality can be the one who have more followers, likes etc.
